We picked a Sunshine theme because Lyla is one of the most happy, sweet babies I have ever been around. She really is like a little ray of sunshine and whoever spends time with her always has their day brightened by her sweet spirit.
The details came together easily when Mindy said she wanted it all yellow and white, she wanted it simple and she wanted it to be ALL about Lyla girl! It turned out to be such a special day and the gazebo we decorated really was like a big ray of sunshine. Here are some pics of her special day.
The lantern garland that I made for behind the table was so easy and it really made the table! Cookies, chocolate covered pretzels, candy and of course an abundance of cupcakes made up the dessert table.
We made centerpieces that showcased Lyla girl each month. Mindy took pictures of Lyla in the same chair every month to chart her growth. We took the pictures and made sunshines numbering each sunshine to go with the month Lyla was in the picture.
Garland we made to hang around the entire gazebo.
Party favor table! Bubbles and lemonheads.
This is the beautiful birthday girl! We love you Lyla! Thanks for letting us be a part of your special day!

This is so beautiful! So glad to have found you! Your ideas are amazing!
Can you share how you made that lantern backdrop? I love this so much and think we want to do this for our daughter's first birthday party.
Yes I sure can! I will do a blog post ASAP! You basically just lay them out next to each other and use ribbon of your choice and tie them from end to end. I didn't even measure I just laid them out on the floor so that I could see that they would be even with one another.
So SWEET! I love it!! Your work is always great : )
I am so new to this...what type of food is served at 1st birthdays
Very, very, very cute! I just did this theme, too, and I wish I would have thought to do grass centerpieces/displays. Duh! Excellent idea. You can see mine here for more ideas: http://diyingtobedomestic.wordpress.com/2010/09/16/my-little-sunshine/
